Need Montreal Hotel Advise

I am planning to visit Montreal later in the summer with my wife and two kids (11 & 14). Can anyone suggest a downtown hotel that has parking, near the subway, shopping and won't be to costly?
Thanks in advance!

The Holiday Inn Downtown might be a good choice. It
seems to be close to everything and has parking at
an addtional cost.

Bob: We were very happy with the Queen Elizabeth. It's next to the train station and the Underground City. You can cover a lot of ground from there and never go outside. But Montreal's a great walking town, so look around above ground too. Mount Royal Park and Biodome are great places to take the kids.

The Holiday Inn sucks. Stay at the Auberge du Vieux Port in the Old port or find an apartment to rent by the week or month downtown, everyone sublets in the summer.

We love Hotel de la Montagne. Close to metro stop and lots of bus routes. Underground parking only $10/day. Kids would love the rooftop pool. On the other side of the hotel is rue Crescent - very lively and full of cafes. Hotel is half a block from rue St. Catherine - lots of shopping and restaurants. Plenty of nightlife within the hotel for the adults after the younger set has gone to bed. Gorgeous dining room with fabulous food. Website is www.hoteldelamontagne.com.

I know this sounds crazy, but we just reserved a room at the Inter-continental and they have a deal where the 2nd room is half price. Our room was $131 so the second room for my in-laws was just $65-so while it isn't dirt cheap-for this hotel-it is still really a good deal

I stayed 3 nights at the Holiday Inn Select on Av Viger. Rate was only $80-something per night (CDN) using my Entertainment discount card.

It's downtown on the edge of Chinatown, just across from Place d'Arms Metro stop. Two blocks from Old Montreal area.

Has a very nice Chinese restaurant on the first floor, and close to other less expensive Oriental eateries.

Very friendly staff and large rooms.

My parents just returned from Montreal and they loved The Queen Elizabeth. As mentioned above, the location is excellent. They requested a Pacific Premier Room. It's more expensive than the standard (they paid about $150 per night) but it's a suite with two bathrooms. With two teenagers, that might come in handy!

Hey there... Best hotel in downtown Montreal .. the Inter-Continental. Near Old Montreal, near subway, 10min walk to downtown, underground parking. It's where the tennis players stayed during the Canadian Open. Price is about $100cdn/day. Have fun.
