Need Kauai Condo Opinions
Hi fellow travelers! We are looking for a condo in Poipu and one in the Princeville/Hanalai area. We want to be right on a good swimming or snorkeling beach. I saw the comment about the Aston Poipu Kai. We were really considering that one. Has anyone out there rented at Poipu Kai from Suite Paradise or All Globe. Are their units better than Astons? Is the Hanalai Bay Resort on (or a short walk to) a beach? I've heard yes and no. Has anyone tried the Pali Ke Kua? How about the Pu'u Poa? Please respond! I posted a note on 1/9/00 and got zero responses! Thanks so much!

Last year my family stayed at a very nice condo at Pali Ke Kua, on the north
shore, just down from the Princeville Hotel. It was around $200 a night. We requested an ocean front and could see "Bali Hai" from the lanai - it was beautiful. The beach is down a rather steep path, below the condos. There was pretty good snorkeling there. The beach has lots of rocks and coral, but also enough sand to sunbathe, etc.
There are lots of beaches in the area or down the road towards Lihue - can't remember the names anymore, but they were nearly deserted.
We bought fresh fish at a fish shop in Hanelei Bay and cooked in the condo, which had a gorgous view of the coast and the ocean. One way to book at Pali Ke Kua is at this website:

You can also book through MARC resorts. The Entertainment Book for Hawaii also can get you discounts at these condos.
Have a great time!

Hi,
Go back to Fodor's Forum and sort "Hawaii" under the search-read other's comments on Hanalei Bay Resort. We have been to Kauai 7 times. Love HBR! Stayed at Puu Poa (model unit) one year while pool was being renovated at HBR. You will not be 'right on' a beach. It is steep walk, but don't let that decide it for you. We often venture out and try many of the gorgeous beaches north of Hanlei. Tunnels if GREAT for snorkeling! Again, skip the others and stay at HBR. Feel free to ask any other questions....and that's my final answer.
Aloha,
Kendell

To the original poster: My husband and I are going to the Poipu Kai in May, and we are getting a condo through Suite Paradsise, rather than Aston. I would also like to know from others what they think of this property. We actually thought that, for the great price, you get a nice deal, and the grounds look pretty. We just wanted a clean room, with a nice area close by to the beach. If anyone has an opinion, I'd love to hear it too!
