Need info on Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club (Kauai)

We're going to the Waiohai BC April 9. Has anyone stayed there recently. Our son and his new wife will be joining us and we want this to be a special break for all of us. Does anyone have any suggetions on which buildings or units are more desirable. We really like to sit and talk early a.m. and evening on the balcony? Any recommendtions on good restaurants? Someone said the Princeville seafood buffet is not to be missed, any truth to this? Also besides some fine dining, any reasonable places for a few evenings with some sort of different atmosphere or view. Thanks

Hi! If you like seafood you are going to love the Friday night buffet at the Princeville. Not only is the view unbeatable - get there well before sunset - but it has the best seafood selection I have ever seen (with one exception - Bally's Sterling Champagne Brunch in Las Vegas). Remember that even with your reservations you will need to line up at least 1/2 hour before opening time to snag an outdoor table for the best view.

For great food in a "local" atmosphere that is worlds apart from the resort scene, try Lihue BBQ Inn. We ate there twice and loved it.

I agree with iamq....the BBQ Inn is great. We also ate there twice at the recommendation of our Holoholo shuttle driver. Also, go next door to Hamurai's Saimin...and also up to Kapaa to LaPlayita Azul...
None of these are the Princeville,,,but, gooooooooood food

Last week we visited friends who were staying at the Waiohai. I was very impressed. We absolutely loved it. The grounds and pool area were nice. Their unit was tastefully decorated. There was a nice deli/market on site.

They stayed in the Hale 1 building and had an awesome sunset/ocean view from the lanai. I would try to get on the 4th floor. I can't remember the exact room number but it was an odd number.
The even numbers in that building would have overlooked the pool/beach.

We ate at Roy's in the Poipu shopping village. It was good but expensive.
We also ate at Keoki's in the same area. Decent food but again no view.
We also ate at Duke's which is at the Marriott on Kalapaki Bay in Lihue. There are tables there that overlook the bay. The food was good and reasonable.

Have a great time!

Ahhh Hamura's Saimin! Thanks iceeu2 for reminding me of the tasty morsels we enjoyed at Hamura's too. The best fried wontons I have ever had. I can still taste them. We kept ordering more orders and the waitress just kept rolling her eyes and smiling! I love that place.
