Need help with transportation from Seattle Airport

We are looking to book a private van or limo to pick us up at the Seattle airport and take us to our hotel in the Lake Union area. We are a family of 4 with a medium amnt. of luggage so a towncar won't work and neither will a taxi. We don't want to share a ride and make other stops after just having a long flight. We also need this van or limo to pick us up from the hotel a week later and return us to the airport.

The companies I've called so far are way over priced ($125.00). I would appreciate it if someone could recommend a reasonable company. Thanks.

I thought Seattle had the best shuttle van system at the airport. There's an indoor seating area and the vans are loaded according to where you are going. This was quite different from the van services at other airports where you are loaded into a van after waiting curbside for one to show up. And then you have to sit inside the van until it is full and then you go on the hotel tour.
The Seattle van company is far more efficient and it makes a big difference to have a sitting area to wait. You'll find the information on the Seattle airport's website. I think the service will be better than you expected for public transportation.

Some of the taxis that serve SeaTac are vans! Take a taxi.

At 1800limo.com I see a quote $55-$69 for a sedan. You can probably get it cheaper if you do a search.

I agree with dfrostnh, use Shuttle Express. We used them for years when we lived there and they were always great. Their rates are very reasonable also. They also give you discounts when there is more than one person going to an address, and children were either free or a reduced rate as well (can't remember which). They are very easy to use and we never had to wait long.

Yes, there are minivan-taxis available at the airport. Ask the taxi dispatch person.

The cost of a taxi will be considerably less than 4 x Shuttle fares.

Right. Shuttle Express is the wrong choice for a group of four. First for the cost and second because they say they "...don't want to share a ride...."

I can definitely understand the not wanting to make several stops. However, if you have 4 people and a good amount of luggage, then the van would more than likely be just your party, and the rate for a family of 4 between the airport and Lake Union is only $27. They do have town cars and private vans as well. Which ever transportation you choose, I hope you enjoy your trip.

Thank you all so much for replying to my post.

I didn't know they had taxi-vans. Can we call and reserve on or do we just have to pick one up at the terminal? Are they more money than a regular taxi? Is there a number I can call to get more information?

As for the sedans, yes they did have them at reasonable rates but that was for a lincoln towncar sedan and that won't fit all four of us plus the luggage. The cheapest rate I found so far for a private van is from Shuttle Express for $72.00 plus tip and one limo company that will take us for a round trip for $140.00 plus tip.

The rate of $27.00 for a party of 4 I'm sure has stops along the way and we don't want that. After almost a seven hour flight we just want to get to the hotel and not waste our pre-cruise day.

Suze: Thanks for the phone numbers I'm going to call them this week and compare their prices to the ones I already have.

Appreciate everyone's help. These boards are so great and a wealth of information.

As far as the regular taxi company that appears to have a monopoly on airport pick-ups... is Stita 206-246-9999. That is the company you will ride with should you just show up and go to the ground transportation taxi cue at the airport.

Can anyone tell me approximately what the fare is for the regular shuttle from the airport to a downtown hotel?

My family will be using the towncar service recommended by Residence Inn, Lake Union. It costs $25 per car, not per person. ph.# 206-730-8192. I was told to ask for Mohammed. They have non-smoking cars too, a big factor for me. J.

That's a good price for a towncar but for us that won't be big enough. We're four adults and a medium amnt. of luggage. With the driver plus us everything won't fit. We need a bigger van or I'd definitely call the company you mentioned as their price is reasonable.
