Getting around is not a problem since we have a car. I did not pick the Hampton Inn by the airport due to the fact that it appeared to get better reviews on tripadvisor. The hotel appears to be around a 15 min. drive to most of the attractions we are interested in. I am really interested in trying out the food trucks in San Diego.

The times that I have used Route 163, which is the road you will be using from the hotel to downtown, traffic has been very slow during Rush Hour. Thankfully, for me, I was going the other way, but you will be stuck in it. Hopefully somebody from SD can confirm that this is typical.

I do believe its more than 15 minutes at most times during the week from there to downtown. As long as you plan for that, you will be ok. I just choose to stay closer to everything. I don't know the cost difference either. Hopefully you enjoy San Diego as its a great city. I'm trying to get back out there soon.

I did not factor in the traffic situation. Thanks for the comment. I am not changing hotels now since my hotel booking is non refundable.

Why are you driving over the Coronado Bridge On Sunday if you're going to Coronado on Wednesday?

Thanks for your comments. You are right that the bridge drive should be moved to Wed.
