Need Denver Lodging / non-motel

Will be going to Denver area early August to visit brother. Would rather not stay in a typical hotel/motel. Willing to be 20-45 minutes outside of Denver. Definitely do not want cityscape out my window (I can get that at home). Looking for a lodge or a resort, cabin or ranch. Need pool for kids. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

You might want to try checking out some vacation rental by owner web sites. These are homes or condos (may have a pool) that you rent directly from the owner. Try http://www.vrbo.com or http://www.vrr.com or http://vacation-properties.com
Hope this helps.

thanks for the tip on condo rental sites. I've checked them out, and there's a couple of possibilities. Most of the units listed, however, are about an hour or more outside of Denver/ Golden. Anybody have ideas for anything else?

Just wanted to move this post up a bit, seeing that I STILL haven't found a place to stay. I'm desperate for help!

You might want to check out the Highland Haven in Evergreen. It's about 30 minutes west of Denver in a quaint little mountain town. Theres no pool but you will definitely get that Colorado feeling. There is a lake nearby with boating, trails. Good restaurants and shopping opportunities.

You did not say where in Denver your brother is. It is 25 minutes across Denver so suggestions would depend on where he is. Places up toward Evergreen are nice but is a minimum of 20 minutes from the West side of the metro area.

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I wish I had seen the one for Highland Haven earlier than today .. it sounds especially nice. We actually just returned from our vacation a week ago, and while we were in Denver we stayed at a place called Towneplace Suites. We had two bedrooms, a living/dining area, full kitchen will towels, dinnerware, toaster, coffeemaker, etc., pool, laundry facilities for $89 a nite. It was great, and close to many things. It was really nice. (in Lakewood)
