Need a tip for a quick lunch in Las Vegas

Hello, all! I have been an avid lurker on here for many years, and having gotten many great tips on these forums before, finally decided to join because I have a question that I couldn't find the answer to while browsing older posts.

My husband and I are going to Vegas for the first time next week. Our flight gets in at 1pm and we are hoping to be in our room by 2pm. That very day we are seeing the O show and plan on having dinner at the Bellagio buffet since it is so conveniently located next door to the show and we wanted to try the food there anyway. However, my question is: where do we have lunch? it would need to be something light, quick and close to our hotel-we are staying at MGM- because it would already be pretty late and we wouldn't want to get too full in anticipation of the famous buffet at the Bellagio.

My first thought was to just go to the MGM buffet but after reading some reviews online we realized that the food there is not that great at all. In fact, I saw some posts about people getting food poisoning after partaking from the food there. I certainly wouldn't want that to happen to us on the very first day of our very first--and much anticipated-- vacation together in over 5 years...

What do you guys suggest? We are big foodies and are open to all cuisines, but with preference to fish and seafood.

Thank you so much!!

wish to travel, never fear. The MGM has about 20 restaurants. Wolfgang Puck had a cafe type I think its called The California Grill. Try the punkin soup. While at MGM I recommend eating dinner at Emeril Laggasse's Fish House restaurant. My favorite show in vegas is the adult show Zumanity at New York New York. Very funny and very adult only. You are visiting the city that never sleeps, if you want chocolate cake and BBQ ribs at 3:00 AM you can find it. Have fun. ziggypop

My husband and I had a delicious but light lunch at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant in the MGM. It was fast, not too expensive and really good.

if you are just looking for a small lunch try 'Wichcraft deli in MGM or Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood. Good "lunch" food, and will leave you room for your fab buffet later.
Have fun!

Agree with Wichcraft, right there at the MGM.

But are you flying in from the east coast? If so you'll be ready for that buffet already. Go to the Bellagio at 3:30pm and pay the lunch price, then stay for the dinner items that they bring out at 4pm. (7pm east coast time!)

If you want something totally different from everything on the strip, you might want to check out Lotus of Siam Thai. It is Thai Issan Food. As they say on their website, Gourmet magazine called it the "single best Thai restaurant in North America".

If you like Thai-google around on foodie boards for it to see their specialties. I would probably save it for another day maybe so that I could sample more stuff however

We also thought that the Earl of Sandwich worked for a quick lunch--and they have pretty nice salads.

Here's another HUGE recommendation for 'wichcraft. Awesome!

But, doing a late lunch at the Bellagio buffet is a terrific idea as well. We've found it's best not to stuff ourselves ahead of a show, as it makes you very drowsy...

The Bellagio Buffet is great - the food is terrific.
Would walking to the Paris be too far. They have a cafe to have French bakery and coffee and think a sandwich and also some restaurants for sandwiches etc.
