If you go to red rock, ( highly recommend it) there is a nice group of restaurants just off the highway at the casino complex. Also, once you LEAVE Red Rock Canyon Loop,, if you turn RIGHT
the next town has adorable wild burros grazing all over the place. I can't remember the name of the town, but I am sure someone here will tell you.

It makes a nice day away from all the artificiality of Vegas.

Olives is fine, not that special. The thing I found when we stayed at Bellagio was that having a view of the fountains from the room was very anti climatic since it is a multi senses work of art and when you take the music and the mist away, all is rather lost and quickly forgotten or ignored.

Well, that's not the effect I was going for! Any other suggestions for dinner?

Agree on Olives.....overpriced outlet of the Todd English chain/empire.

I'd go to Lotus of Siam, but it's not for you, so go to RAKU.

Do the kaiseki dinner if you are a big spender. Dine on the late side and you may see some famous faces in the food world.

2 of our group have actually already experienced the kaiseki dinner at Raku. Only one of them is famous.

We enjoyed the service, wine list and setting at Olives but the food was pedestrian, at best. We wouldn't go back.

We had breakfast at Mon Ami at the Paris Hotel. It was fantastic. Also, the zipline at Fremont was cheap and cheerful. The area gets 'funky' later in the evening but the experience was definitely worthwhile.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. It was a great trip. I've posted a trip report on the Nevada forum.
