One of my favorite moments during a brief stay in Nashville was eating lunch at the Wildhorse Saloon when various amateur country musicians were performing for charity. I really enjoyed the place, even though it may be touristy. I would not call it the best food in TN but it is a fun bite to eat and I will always remember my stop there. If you go, I'd try to go when they have a performer on stage.

If the weather is nice, Cheekwood is beautiful(gardens and lunch) as is Belle Meade Mansion(and the neigboring area homes are gorgeous). For a quaint small town, Franklin,TN just about 30 minutes south off of 65--make sure to go into the town itself. It has great little lunch spots and a variety of art shops, etc. Greenhills area is nice and we enjoy F.Scott's for live jazz and a nice meal. Get a tour book and stay away from the "tourist" spots because there are so many beautiful things in Nashville. Though everyone needs to see Opryland Hotel once. It is a good place to go on a rainy day.
