Naples or Marco Island?

Hi we're a family of four... two adults, one 18 year old, one 16 year old. We've lived in Florida a long time and want to take a two-night trip around Thanksgiving. We are considering either Marco Island or Naples. We would stay at the Hilton (I am a diamond preferred member). We thought the Marco Island hotel was nicer, and were going to stay there, till someone said there wasn't as much to do on Marco Island. Any thoughts on the subject?

I like both places. If you want a relaxing vacation, walks on the beach - then I'd stay at Marco Island. If you want more of a little "city" life, then I'd go to Naples. Both are great - I don't think you can go wrong with either one....

I also live inn Florida (east coast. We have gone to Naples, Marco island, Sanabel and captiva. Naples is better than Marco island if you stay at a beachfront hotel (such as the Edgewater Beach. There are much more restauarants in naples than Marco. The Mariott is a good place to stay in marco. i ahve not heard anything positive about the Hilton. I hear it is O.K. There is little to do on marco Island. Keep in mind that the bridge from the mainland to the Island is about 20 feet. Sanable and captiva are much more island like and more laid back. marco and Naples to an extent is just condo after condo.

The problem with Sanibel and Captiva, if the causeway has not yet been rebuilt, are the delays getting across from the mainland to Sanibel and the distance from Captiva to grocery stores and restaurants on Sanibel. The distance is trivial, but the speed limit is only 35 for most of the distance, and they mean it.

I think I am going to go with Naples. We have tickets now to see the Nutcracker, and there is always a beach near by if the weather is good. I figure if we go with Marco Island, we are too weather-dependent. Thanks for your help!
