Nantucket

MY friend and I are thinking about going to Nantucket Island For a wk this fall.Could anyone help with names of hotels and rest.Also how are the beaches.Thanks

Nantucket is a real waste of time no fast food or good motels.Not much to see unless you like water and sand.Don't waste your time.

Sorry Fred- I thought Nantucket was a great Fall getaway. Very quaint and totally relaxing. Bob, we stayed at the White Elephant- very nice. IMO, Martha's V. is a distant second!

Beaches are very nice. Fred says a waste of time- no way, but guess it depends on your plans. We stayed at the Brass Lantern and enjoyed it. 2nd what don said- Martha's vs. Nantucket is no contest.

Didn't any of you get Fred's tongue-n-cheek response? No fast food or motels. Ha ha, very good Fred.

Just go tto Nantucket.net and check out the lodging/Inns/hotels. There really isn't a bad place to stay on the island. Restaurants are listed there as well - Most of them should be still open. There is a variety of places from Sandwich shops..Provisions, Something Natural. To bar setting places like Atantic Cafe and Cambridge Street - To amazing places for dinner and definitely more expensive such as The Pearl or 21 Federal. The beaches are really just beautiful - chilly in the Fall but could be nice on a cool, sunny day for a picnic. What are you looking to do for the week? There's plenty of biking and walking around....great food...drinks and just relaxing.

I was just in Nantucket last week - stayed in a 1 bedroom cottage right on the water - not cheap, but when compared to getting a ROOM at a B&B it's not bad. Also, they have a full kitchen, fridge, oven, micro, dishwasher, etc... VERY nice (they even pick you up from the docks and take you and your luggage to your place). Of course, I can't find the EXACT name of the places, but I believe they are Harborview - if you want more info I can post it at another time.Have a great time! FYI - a lot of the restaurants and stores are already closed for the season - BUT - there are ALOT of great deals to be had in the stores and even some of the restaurants were running great dinner specials.
