Did you notice the reasons for doing this??

to recall how we climbed trees as a child...(I think I had my dungarees ON when I did that!). And I'd a had my hide tanned if I'd been caught up a tree in public with nothing on!

also (this was repeated twice, guess they couldn't come up with the addition reason they wanted to find) to encourage others to live their lives more fully....YEAH, more fully CLOTHED!LOL

That's awesome... I knew someone could figure out was was up. I mean, I was starting to think it may have been some kind of group psychosis or maybe I just dreamed it... [Hmm hm hm, driving thru SF, Isn't Lombard Street cool?, Hey, let's go check out Coit Tower, hmm, hm... Look at the naked people in the trees, honey, hmm, hmm... where do we look for Telegraph Hill parking again?...]

I guess it WAS real. Thanks folks.

Maybe they were recently-emerged Mole People who, finding themselves unfamiliar with above-ground terrain, and underdressed to boot, climbed the trees as a last resort. They are to be pitied, not mocked!

Ah the mole people. I love the mole people. And speaking of unlikely spots..friends turned us on to a story about a supper club in the catacombs of Paris. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Hey John, your post made me think of something similar we saw in Paris last summer. If I recall, it was big life size decals of a naked guy and he always had something unusual covering his area or he was in such an awkward postition that you couldn't see it. Anyway, there must have been at least a dozen or so trees with this art just outside Luxembourg Gardens. Does it sound like what you saw?

If they were in that tree you could really tell if it was a mole-y person.

Hey Pammer,

PM - Funneeee. Thanks for clarifying the 'Nekkid Jay Bird'. I, too, have always heard (and said) that expression, while all the time wondering what a Nekkid Jay Bird looked like. Yeah, I think they're part of the 'Pecker Wood' family. LOL

Who ARE the Mole People? I keep thinking of Larry the Cable Guy and his sister. They called her Ol' Moley til she got religion--now they call her Holy Moley.

Well - they say the camera never lies;

If anyone wants to start a book on who fell out of the tree first my money is on the guy second from the left.

For those who are interested you can find more pictures at;

There are just some things I wouldn't want to do in the buff and climbing a tree is one of them!

Would anyone but me say, "ouch"?

CaliNurse,
here is the link to the "mole people" thread in case you've missed my topping

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...d=1&tid=100608

When are you coming to the city? This coming weekend? We can discuss (not to watch, no, don't want to spoil my appetite!) naked and shorts-wearing people over a cup of... Irish coffee?

All I can think of is the scene in The Sound of Music where all the kids are hanging out of the trees in their new play clothes, and the father is appalled. At least they had SOME clothes on.
