I love the North Conway area and am looking for other options other than the two listed above that we may enjoy. Also interested in exploring some areas that we have not explored yet (we usually drive through the Kancamangus Highway). Have never tried the Flume Gorge (correct name). Please send any suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants, etc. Many thanks. Also, for this summer.

Last Sept we were staying in Campton so we drove the Kancamagus west to east, drove south then headed to Tamworth and Center Sandwich. Despite a little bit of shopping in N Conway we were still in time for lunch at Red Hill Dairy in Moultonborough. The Gorge is good and will tire everyone out. I was surprised to see so many international visitors. We haven't been to Squam Lakes Science Center is years but they had an interesting pontoon boat ride with talk about ecology and loons. DS now has a family of his own and likes Polar Caves and Lost River. Last year they went to Clark's Trading Post.

Not sure of the distance but another day trip could be to the Great Vermont Corn Maze in Danville VT. It's not very far from Littleton NH. I know people who travel 3 hours to do the maze. It's a great maze but expect to spend 2-3 hours and don't go in on an empty stomach. If you go, make a visit to the ice cream place in Littleton in the old victorian house.

If you're up for hiking, the trail to Arethusa falls is nice, plan on a picnic lunch at the falls and it doesn't cost like the Flume does.

The Flume is nice, as are the Polar Caves. I've always found Clark's to the be the most reasonably priced family fun place in the area. You could hike up to Diana's Bath, head to the top of Mount Washington, or float down the Saco. I believe that Cranmore and Attitash both have summer mountain activities. Whale's Tale waterpark is at the western end of the Kanc.

Have a great time and remember - you'll be taking the Grandkids to Story Land and SV before you know it.

We really enjoyed the Lonesome Lake hike on the Franconia side. They have an AMC hut at the lake too.

Also, in December they have the Inn to Inn cookie tour...just google it. I can't wait until the boys are old enough for that!

Oh, another nice/easy hike is to Diana's Baths. Again, just use google to get trail info.

Wow, those are the same ages my kids were when they said they were done with Storyland and Santa's Village. I'll second Clark's Trading Post - it's a lot of fun and it has an old time roadside amusement park feel to it. We also have been to Whales Tale water park, The Lost River and gone on the Hobo Railroad. These places are all on the other side of the Kancamangus Highway - which is a great road to drive and stop at different spots along the way. I think these places might interest older kids. Of course, last year my 14 and 17 year old kids had no problem going to Santa's Village - I guess going with their little cousins was their excuse - it was a great trip down memory lane - love those gingerbread men!

They have a lot of fun things to do there and coming up this fall is The Ghoullog. The Ghoullog is the only Halloween event in the nation featuring a chairlift ride to a haunted house at the summit of a mountain. Cranmore’s 2,000 foot summit is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and offers visitors breathtaking night-time views of the Moats, Mount Washington and the village of North Conway, NH.

New for the Ghoullog this year is the addition of new rides and attractions; and ticket offers. Cranmore’s Mountain Coaster will receive a Halloween-themed face lift as they offer “Haunted Coaster Rides” to take place during Ghoullog dates.
