Mystery trip in November

We have airline tickets to use before Dec so thought we'd skip the family thing this year and go away over the long Thanksgiving weekend. We live in NH so would like to stay on the east coast.

So, please send your suggestions! Where's the best place for 2 adults to spend a few days in November? We like interesting restaurants, wandering around cities, and driving through the country. And spas. Bookstores too. Moderate cost, since we're saving up for April in Paris.

CDJD, I don't know anything about Asheville NC. Why do you recommend?

Cmcfong, I am taking a look at Charleston. Where should we stay, and what are the highlights you recommend?

Oh, sorry, didn't see the east coast qualification. Montreal/Quebec?

Hi Sonianh!

How about Annapolis, MD? Its truly beautiful that time of year! Maryland really meets all your specs. Plus, you could easily take a day trip to DC or Baltimore if you wanted to!

Thanks all!

We have the opportunity to use a friend's house in Ft. Lauderdale as home base, and plan to take day trips. What are the must-sees in the area?

Asheville has all the amenities of a large town in a small town, Mountain setting. It is a great place to wander & relax & there are a myriad of places to stay: from the Grove Park Inn, to other B & B's to vacation cabins out in the Mts. I use vrbo.com a lot in this area & have always had great success. Also check out www.gorveparkinn.com, www.asheville.com & www.exploreasheville.com.

Sonianh...
Since you have decided to go to Ft. Lauderdale, I suggest that you start a new thread with your inquiry about must sees and also do a search typing in Ft. Lauderdale and also use the drop down menu and clicking on FL.

Hope this helps...
