Myrtle Beach - Memorial Day?

Hubby and I were considering a 4 day weekend to Myrtle Beach for Memorial Day? We've never been there - should we expect it to be really crowded there during the holiday? If so, are there any beaches in the US that *won't* be chock full of people for the "beginning of summer"? Thanks!

Don't do it is you aren't part of Black Bikers Week. It is very, Very busy a quite rowdy.

Of all weekends to visit Myrtle Beach, that (and regular biker week in April) would be the one I'd truly avoid. Pick another weekend to go, or try another beach, maybe further north or south than Myrtle.

Are you a glutton for punishment? It is so crowded at Myrtle Beach all during the Summer. I'd try for the NC coast or maybe travel a little farther south and stay at Georgetown, SC or even enjoy Charleston, SC.

Aquaria,

We've been down here many times during Memorial Day. It is biker week, as mentioned above, but it's kind of neat seeing all the bikes. Beats the hell out of the ordinary traffic vistas (SUV, mini-van, sedan, mini-van, SUV).

We have never had a problem.

However, as Lexie suggested, you could head North to escape all this. I would recommend Sunset Beach or Ocean Isle (both just over the border in NC).

Finally, I would add a qualifier to Stephanie P's comment above. Summer IS crowded at Myrtle Beach if by Summer you mean about the second week of June through the second week of August. At least in North Myrtle Beach (my stomping grounds) May and early June are great, and late August through November is even better.

Have a great time wherever you go!
