PLEASE, just go to Litchfield. It could be closer than MB actually if the 30 minutes is what is worrying you.

In November they will have spectacular deals. You can have 30 restaurants to choose from. It is quiet!! the Beach is right there.

OK, thanks everyone, I booked Litchfield! The 30 minute extra drive isn't an issue. I simply was feeling rushed to book something quickly as we left ourselves very little time to plan this vacation. And, I knew nothing of the area including the surrounding communities. I am now much better educated. Thanks again.

Not to beat the horse any more, it IS closer (via Google map) and a lot more interesting route with less traffic!!
You will enjoy the area a lot.
Run down to Georgetown (20 minutes) for a look at a Revolutionary War town--they have an interesting waterfront and nice little shops and restaurants.
Huntington Beach State Park has a really nice beach with better shelling than a lot of the rest of that coast, although I don't know what Hurricane Matthew did to that--maybe a lot of good shells, but maybe not.
But that state beach is the reason Litchfield remains so quiet and controlled--there isn't the possibility of development to the north.
