Must sees in Northern California
We'll be flying into Reno and spending nine days in the northern California area before flying out of San Francisco. Other than Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and San Fran, are there any other must see sights or places that people recommend? We don't mind driving and like to see as much as possible in our limited time. Thanks a lot for your responses.

Wadda 'bout a trip up Hwy 89 to Hwy 49 and then down thru Downieville and Nevada City/Grass Valley to Auburn?
You can hook up to I-80 in Auburn and make it a big circular trip or drive further down Hwy 49 thru the Gold Country-Wine Country and go back to Reno via Hwy 50 from Placerville.
Beautiful country. What month?
This area in Oct is like a trip thru New England to watch the leaves turn.

We're actually planning a much larger trip than that. Reno to Yosemite to north on the CA coast (probably Rt. 1) into Oregon to Crater Lake before heading back to San Fran via Lassen Volcanic Park. Wondering if there are any stops along the way we shouldn't miss. Also, do not know much about the wine country area. We'll be there the end of August over Labor Day.
