Am I missing something here? Tanasbrook is not Tanasbourne. Isn't Tanasbrook in Beaverton and Tanasbourne in Hillsboro?

Tanasbrook is almost across the street from Tanasbourne: Tanasbrook is on 185th Ave between Cornell and Walker; Tanasbourne (Hillsboro border) starts on the NW corner of 185th and Cornell. A buddy of mine owned a condo in Tanasbrook many years ago and I helped him move out of it when he sold it. Not a bad area at all just, as I said, it's not a fun commute inbound on Highway 26 in the morning to Portland.

I agree with enzian that the area around Gabriel Park would be a good choice for working at OHSU: you can shoot right over to Terwilliger and up to the hospital that way or even ride your bike. That's a nice dog park. I would probably not choose to live there (in SW Portland) myself, but everyone's preferences and lifestyles are different.

I didn't realize they were so close. Makes sense though since the names are so similar.

Thanks everyone! We have been searching for housing all weekend, we hopefully finally found a place (that we love) walking distance from OHSU in a nice neighborhood. Otherwise we found a few in the Lair Hill area and other SW areas. Haven't checked out the NW 23rd area too much but hear it's great. This is exhausting, however, we have been holed up at the 5th Avenue Suites all weekend, which I love...highly recommend them if anyone needs hotel advice!

One more question...any tips on good cheap dog kennels? I think we are going to be stuck in the hotel at least one more night, we start work at 6am tomorrow so think we need to put the doggie up instead of leaving him in a hotel all day!

Glad to hear that things are falling into place! So glad you are enjoying the 5th Avenue Suites. We have stayed a few times even though we live here, and it really is nice. I can't help with kennels, but hopefully Scarlett will see this as I know she is up on all the pup info in town.

There's a couple of apartment buildings at the top of Barnes/Burnside. That might work.

Where did you end up, darbyvt? I hope it pans out for you......

In the Pearl..Dog Star - 1313 NW Kearny 503-227.0292
and
Urban Fauna - 235 NW Park
503-223.4602
Both are day care centers, (Urban Fauna also grooms and has an amazing pet shop)
I would leave Pup with them, they are very popular and I have checked them out myself. Pup gets groomed at Urban Fauna.

We always stayed at 5th Avenue Suites, love them. So does Pup

Thanks everyone!! We finally found a place, after a week at 5th Ave Suites we're moving tomorrow! Got a great rowhouse in the Lair Hill area with two decks and a yard....will be close to work too. All this searching has really helped me see a lot of Portland, I'm learning to love it here after all...doggie does too, so many new smells and noises, he's going crazy!! Thanks again---
