I am moving to atlanta this summer. I am moving from Omaha,Ne, which there is not much to, What kind of clubs are there in Atlanta? What kind of places are good to eat at? Here in Nebraska the clubs close at 12:30 am or 1:00 am...How late are the clubs open...I will be living in the suburb near lenox station....I heard the traffic is terrible true or false?

What kind of clubs are there? What kind do you want...most anything you can think of can be found.
Traffic, bad? Now that's an understatement.
Any type of food you can think of is available...what are you looking for? This is a metro area of 2 million people, nearly five times the size of the Omaha area, and much more 'citified' and urban.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution put together a good resource, "The Ultimate Metro Atlanta Guide Book," which will give you a good overview of the city, attractions, nightspots, restaurants, etc. Go to www.ajc.com/infostore. I'm assuming you're moving due to work, so check to see if your workplace is close to a MARTA train station or bus stop. Since you'll be located near Lenox, you have a MARTA train stop there. Look at www.itsmarta.com for orientation. Yep, traffic is bad; it's the major detraction to this area, IMHO. However, the mix of cultural & entertainment opportunities, along with the natural beauty that's nearby in the North Georgia Mtns., makes ATL a good homebase. Good luck.

This won't really be much of a help to you (except for moral support), but our kids moved to Atlanta last year from Ohio and think there's nothing like the city and state of Georgia as a whole! They totally fell in love with everything about it - I hope you have the same success. Good luck!

The best afterhours club in Atlanta is Backstreet. Everybody knows it. You can dance or whatever til 8 AM if you want to. Many people leave the club on Sunday morning, go to breakfast, then to church.

But if you are forced to grow up in Ohio, almost anything seems like paradise when you leave!
(Except Gary, Bensalem, Jersey City, E St Louis...)

My best friend, a native Atlantan, moved to Omaha last year. I've been to Omaha twice now and found some great restaurants there. But you won't have any trouble finding good places to eat here.

There are a wide variety of clubs in Atlanta, from techno to retro to martini bars. Buckhead is what usually comes to mind and gets a lot of attention. But many say its lost is glitter. A lot of people are choosing to hang out in Virginia-Highlands because of its more low key attitude.

Traffic definitely stinks. You guys have it made in Omaha.

I love Atlanta but one thing that impressed me about Omaha was the fact that not everybody wasn't into status, such as what car you drive and your clothes. Atlanta can be big into what you own rather than who you are, which is sad sometimes. But I guess that can happen anywhere.

the kind of clubs that i am looking for are hip-hop clubs, as wells as for some good southern resturants....

Try Mary Macs tea room an old southern favorite. Also try to stay in midtown or the highlands unless you are of a darker persuasion. All the hip hop clubs are there, these days the clubs in buckhead are booty-lishus and lots of rap.

Funny... I moved to ATL back in August 2000. Froze my butt during winter '00 - '01. Traffic is HORRIBLE!!!! 2nd worst traffic in the country after Los Angeles. Believe it or not! It came out in the paper last year! Housing is also OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive... especially if you want to live in the perimeter and not have to drive 1.5 - 2 hrs every day to work inside in the city!! So, I left 13 months later to sunny miami, FL. Granted, this place isn't exactly paradise, but at least housing is more affordable, traffic is bad, but not THAT bad, and at least I no longer freeze during the winter (its 80 degrees here today mid-feb) and now I have the beach... go figure.
