movie tour on Kauai

Has anyone done the movie locations tour on Kauai? How was it? Is it worth the time involved and money?

Because we live on Kaua`i, we get asked for "tourist information" often -- so we try to do as many of the tours as possible, so that our recommendations are experience-based.

Just did the movie tour last month, and liked the scenery and the movie info. They now offer 2 or 3 different tours. We were on the all-day one, which I would only recommend to the most _ardent_ fan of island movies -- it's 9am to 3pm, with a lot of 4WD terrain.

Some friends of ours did the 4WD tour and really liked it.
We tried to do it as a last minute thing this past trip (Dec/Jan '04) and the only times we had available they were booked so you may want to book early.

Mahalo and "only" 272 to go!

Explanation of "...a lot of 4WD terrain" in my earlier post:

All the movie tours are via 4WD vehicle, because they traverse the mountains and the beaches. The all-day tour, however, takes in Kipu Ranch -- along rutted cattle trails (erk!), rained out gullies (ugh!), and more than the usual amount of bone-jarring trails.

Definitely not for anyone with back/neck issues (or pregnant women).

Kal: What happen to the accompaning little yellow faces or drink pictures along with your comments. You're slacking!!!!

Auntiemaria: I was told today that Kileua is going to have a new fish market opening any day now. Amy of Secret Beach Hideaways says we will be able to buy fish there for grilling at our cottage!!! Please comment on the quality when they open and you get a chance to sample.
