Mountain Shadows Resort-Scottsdale

We would like any feedback regarding the Marriott Mountain Shadows Resort in Scottsdale. I understand it is an older resort, but would like more information before booking. We plan on staying for 3-4 nights in September.

Pretty middle of the road place. Haven't been there recently but I've not heard of any multimillion dollar renovations which would cause me to bother to check it out.
Are you staying there using Marriott Rewards or for a meeting or something? Any reason you've chosen Mountain Shadows in particular? For a bit more money you can find much better accommodations. The location is great, however.

I am pleased to know that Mountain Shadows is still around. I used to dine out at their restaurant back in th 60's when I lived in Phoenix. It was a classy place in those days but that was 35 years ago.

Cal is correct when he says Mt. Shadows was "the place" in the 60's. We stayed there last year for my husband's 50th high school reunion...they hold many such events there. We found it to be a bit worn, dated and our room was anything but upscale. I really truly think you can find a better place for less money. September is still low price season for resorts. The pool is still very nice, very large with lots of seating surrounding. I would think any of the Pointe Resorts, Embassy Suites, Radissons and many others would be a better choice. Mt. Shadows is in a very choice location, residential and safe.

I have stayed at this hotel while on business at least 5 times in the last several months.
While true that it is an older resort, I have no complaints. The rooms are lovely, the staff is very attentive, and the hotel has great rates right now, some that include breakfast, spa, and golf.
The gym is great, as is both pools. If you have time, you can also use the facilities across the street at Camelback. You can also charge meals at Camelback to your room.
If you have more specific questions, please feel free to email me directly. I am returning to this hotel next week.
