I'm thinking 70 miles to Walmart and only 3 fast food places would be a nice change of pace.

Dresden, Ohio -- Home of Longaberger baskets & the largest basket in the world, quaint shops, great restaurants, nice, clean, wonderful town.
Also, I agree about Lawrence, KS. Glad to see at least one Kansas town made the list so far!
Silverton, CO, small, full of history & beautiful setting in the valley between mountains.
Although not real small, might also add Williamsburg, VA & Pagosa Springs, CO... GREAT places to visit!

Another vote for Beaufort, South Carolina! Several movies have been made there. Yet, it's still a quaint/beautiful town.

Celebration and Seaside Florida, Mendocino California.

Here's a gorgeous one in KY....Bardstown. Lots of distilleries there, too

The "YORKS" of Maine, NO Franchises Allowed. A regular Free Enterprise town for the common man/woman.

Another vote for Eureka Springs, Arkansas - very small town of 2,000 people - tourists visiting on any given weekend - 15,000 to 30,000.

Always charming and quirky.
