mosquitoes in the bronx botanical garden?

I'll be attending an event around twilight in the Bronx Botanical Garden. Most of the event will be indoors, but I imagine some of it will be outdoors if the weather is nice.

I'd like to avoid dousing myself in repellant, but mosquitoes think I am really sweet, and I dearly do not want to get bitten.

Anybody have any first hand experience or advice? (I'm afraid one of those plastic anti-mosky bracelets will not go with my classy outfit.)

Purchase an insect repellent stick. I always carry one in my purse when in tropical outdoor restaurants and areas where spraying repellent would be offensive. Apply if needed.

Thanks! Can I pick one up at some place like Duane Reade, or is there a special store I need to go to? Easiest for me would be to buy it someplace in midtown Manhattan, or NoHo.

OFF makes a clip on that uses AAA batteries. You could clip it on the handle of your purse when you are outside. Put it in the purse when you are inside.
There are repellants that you apply to clothing instead of your exposed skin.

I'd call REI or any other outdoorsman places in Manhattan and see what they have in stock before heading there. And if there are mosquitoes, once you are protected, you can share it with others and be the lifesaver of the party!

Thanks all! I can make it to the REI store on Lafayette St. before the event.
