Monterey, Bodega Bay in October: Any problems with fog in the morning?

I heard there shouldn't be any problem with fog during October.

True?

October and September are generally less foggy than other months of the year, although you may encounter some fog. It can be foggy on the coast at any time really. I wouldn't call it a problem though. Fog is one of the things that makes the CA coast unique.

J_Correa is so right that fog, while less common in the early Fall, is quite unpredictable and often enhances the beauty of the breathtaking Coast. And it also makes golf more challenging, right, travelinandgolfin?

Agree--Oct. isn't generally a foggy month, but fog in the morning is never impossible. It's unpredictable, really--hope for the best, and good luck!

If you have an ocean at your doorstep, there will be fog. Autumn mornings can have mist or fog in Northern California, for sure. The difference between that and our actual "season" for fog is that it's not a heavy blanket that lingers all day in varying intensities.

We were up at Pt. Reyes National Seashore last week. They told me October is their warmest and nicest month. Good luck!

Hi again!
Don't be scared of the fog! It almost always clears up by noon. It is indeed a charming part of this part of the country. We appreciate Mother Nature's air conditioning after 3 or 4 hot days in a row. Check out www.northbayweather.com for Bodega Bay.
