Monte Carlo in Las Vegas
We will be staying at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas in September. We have a package deal from a travel center. Depending on the additional cost, is it worth it to upgrade to a suite when we get there? We've never been out west and we're celebrating our 10th anniversary. If not a suite, what view or floor should we ask for?

Ask this question on the discussion board at www.lvol.com - someone will most likely know the answer. (They're all lovers of Las Vegas...me,too).

You will love our favorite place the Monte Carlo. It is very light and airy unlike some dark hotels. A basic has a lovely room with larger bathroons. The toilets have a heck of a flush. I'm sure a suite would be even more deluxe. Ask for a view looking down the strip. Hit their brewery, Lance Burton magic show ($35) and visit all the surrounding new hotels; Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, Venetion to name a few. e-mail if you want tips of free activities. The Monte Carlo will not disappoint you.

We stayed in a suite the first time we visited the MC, and it was great. It's one large room - very bright and airy with lovely furniture; even a real dining room table. There are one and a half baths (!) and it's all pretty swanky. The other nice thing is that the suites are close to the elevators, so you don't have to wander the halls looking for your room. Since it's your 10th anniversary, I say go for it and upgrade. You may end up spending more time in your room than you think (we always do; mid-day naps, quick showers, etc.) I remember that it was fairly reasonable, and it will certainly be special for a special occasion. Have a blast!
