Monday Night Theater NYC

I realize that Monday night is hardly a "hot" night for theater, but we will be in town and would like to take in a show. I've been looking through the listings on Playbill.com and so far, I have found that "I Love you You're Perfect..etc", "Good Time Blues", and "The Godfadda Workout" all have performances on Monday evenings. . . . does anyone know of any others? We like plays, musicals, drama, comedy, not really into experimental theater, readings or performance art. Thanks for your advice.

Are you only interested in Off-Broadway shows? There are many Broadway shows that play on Monday night: Cabaret, Chicago, Les Miz, Oklahoma, Mama Mia, Phantom of the Opera are just a few.

Philip; I'm interested in Broadway as well as off Broadway. We will actually be in town Sat/Sun/Mon evening,I have tickets for Saturday eve. and started to work on Sunday & Monday . . . thought about Chicago for a Sunday but didn't see much for Monday - Maybe I read too much & started to zone out! Is there a better way to check dates & times than looking at Playbill.com clicking on a title & going to the next screen to check dates & times? Maybe I'm not going about this the right way . . .

I'm not sure what your research actually was, but these are the Broadway shows that have Monday evening performances: Cabaret, Chicago (though this one may change after 4/10), Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Oklahoma, Rent, Sweet Smell of Success, The Phantom of the Opera and Urinetown.
Tickets for several of them should be available at TKTS for a Monday night performance. There are also offers on the Playbill website for some.

Unfortunately I haven't found a good way to check days on the internet. I resort to looking at the Theater Listing in the New York Times.

You can check on what is playing on TKTS by going to the website below. While never definite, it gives a good indication of what you are likely to expect on TKTS (although they only update their website Mon-Fri):

I just noticed in its NY Times listing that it said there's be a Wednesday matinee starting 4/10, which means it'll obviously be replacing another performance and Monday night seemed the most logical one to go. To be sure, I suggest you call Telecharge (800-432-7250) and ask what the performance schedule will be starting the week of 4/8.

I have tickets to Chicago on Monday, April 15 in the evening. They've already been charged and I pick them up at the box office when I get to town. I certainly HOPE there is still a show on Monday nights.

For any one who was concerenced about the Monday Evening performance of "Chicago" durning April - I called telecharge and they are not seeing major schedule changes until July, when the 7:00 curtain will be at 6:30

Abbey, that's really strange (and I do believe you!). The listing for Chicago still says that starting 4/10, there'll be a 2 p.m. Wednesday performance. So, either the ad is wrong or Telecharge is wrong!
And a performance at some other time has to be eliminated, and Monday night does seem to be the logical one.

Howard & Everyone: Well, when I called this afternoon, I was told the Monday evening performance was on. I called this evening to purchase tickets for 4/22 and was told the theater was dark on Mondays . . . hmmmmmmm I booked for Sunday evening (4/21 at 7:00) and wanted to share a discount code with any else booking tickets. I found this on dealsonbroadway.com mention code CHEMX46 and purchase Front Balc. (reg. $62.50) for $35, Orch/Front Mezz (reg. $90) for $50, and Rear Mezz (reg. $72.50) for $40. And of course, you can always wait on line at TKTS.

Just a note on my previous post. I went back and looked at my booking. It's actually for Sunday, April 14. Sorry for any confusion on Monday night shows. I GUESS it's still good. I'll find out when I get to town.
