Moms in Miami
I will be travelling w/a girlfriend (2 moms getting away) to Miami 3/29 - 4/2 and was looking for a safe, clean hotel ($150-$200) in an area (beach optional) where we could walk around, shop etc and w/parking. Neither of us know Miami. Thanks for suggestions!

The best area to be in if you don't need a car would be South Beach but Coconut Grove is also doable.
Check out:
The South Seas
Catalina
Doubletree Surfcomber
Marseilles
Cardoza
However, it is peak season so you might have a little trouble with your budget. Check those hotels to start with.

Actually, you don't want a car in South Beach. Parking will cost you $12-$20 per day.
Key West isn't a day trip. If you are going, at least plan on overnighting there. It is at least a 4 hour drive under the best circumstances.
Also visit:
Versailles
Viscaya Mansion
Parrot Jungle
Miami Zoo
Also take one of Dr.George's tours from the Historical Museum of Southern Florida. If he is doing the Biscayne Bay/Stiltsville tour, jump on that.
