Molokai Ranch can you stay there without a car, still see enough?

Anyone been to Molokai. I am thinking about going and staying at the Molokai ranch. Wondering if I can do this without a car. Looks like the ranch has a lot to offer and perhaps I can do day tours that will show me other parts of island? NYC and I don't drive, going alone.

Tom,
There is hardly any tours in Molokai, other than the mule tour to the Kalaupapa (Hansen disease colony). You must drive to the meeting area anyway. Molokai is very rural, very relaxed. You definitely need a car there. Unless you want to pay for chauffeuring service. I think there is somekind of tour service but don't know how much they charge. Check out www.visitmolokai.com. We were there for 3 nights and enjoyed it tremendously. Molokai Ranch provided activities but unless that is all you want to do, you need a car to drive around. There are a few condos on the west side of the island. You can buy fresh fish and poke at the Ice House at the pier in Kaunakakai (main town) and grill it. Simply ono.

Regards,
Cathy

We've spent 5 days on Molokai for a friends wedding-we did not stay on the Molokai ranch but I can tell you this--Unless you are staying on the "green" or "wet" side--you are in Kansas. dry, arid, dirt roads. We did not enjoy. And without a car? You are going nowhere.

Are you going there to detox? If so, then Molokai Ranch is perfect. I stepped out of my hotel room to check out the view and seriously....the silence was deafening. I could barely even hear myself breathing! We did horseback riding and things around the property. Tours: They exist, but not super abundant. Like Cathy says, it's REALLY rural. It's great for R&R.
