Molokai or Lanai?

Has anyone ever stayed/visited on either Molokai or Lanai? We're looking at the Kale Hale Mala B&B....

Yes, I have been to both in the last 6 weeks. I took the ferries to both but it is possible to fly in .

Both islands are for people looking for complete relaxation and not a lot of excitement.

I really loved Lanai. There are 2 exquisite resorts (Manele Bay and the Lodge at Koele). They are just lovely, especially the Lodge. Lanai City is charming and authentic, not trying to be cute but it is. It's located in a cool pine forest up in the highlands. The Hotel Lanai is very funky and friendly.

Molokai has 2 "major" hotels. The gorgoeus Sheraton and the very modest Hotel Molokai. Lots of beaches, and the option of visiting Kalaupapa (Father Damien's leper colony) with a tour group. The town of Kaunakakai isn't too terribly exciting. Molokai has beautiful beaches.

Personally I preferred Lanai but I also know Molokai is very popular for independent travelers seeking an unusual, secluded vacation experience.

We spent some time in Molokai a few years back - it was incredibly quiet, and the beaches were unbelieveable - they seemed to go on for miles and they were completely empty! Molokai is a good place for people seeking quiet and solitude.

We stayed in a condo - can't remember the name, but it was nice and reasonably priced.

Haven't yet been to Lanai - it's on my wish list!

Have a great time!
