tita,

great report, really enjoyed your style of writing.....their are the brightest stars on Lanai and the Milky Way at night is so bright you really don't need lights.

MelissaHI,

Sounds like you haven't been to Kauai or Lanai with the right guy yet, those islands can be very romantic, lol

Aloha!

So you just name the day and I'll for sure "be in the kitchen by your side making banana/mak/blueberry pancakes while the boys make fresh squeezedlimeaid from that beautiful lime tree and billy brews the coffee while Jack Johnson plays quietly in the background.

I'm SO THERE!!!

What is left to say when Kahuna Kal has refused to talk stink on this humble island talkstory.

Oh man of man - the STARS~!!!!! What kinda travelwizard fool am I. We stayed at Pu'u O Huku which translates to "Hill of Stars" and we were so wiped out that we were flashing our carlights looking for our herd of dear, which by the way showed up at dusk whenever we were there. We showeed up unexpectadly one night and mrlou was concerned that they would hurt themselves jumping over the fences........he then enjoyed my venison at the Lodge!

So how is it possible to miss the stars at Hill of Stars, and then once again be blown away by the mosst amazing light show on our last night, carrying our freshed washed laundry from Lanai City to the Lodge. WHAT????? dont you all like to travel with fresh clothes. Ahhhhhh,,,,,you know you are home when you spend your last night in paradise doing laundry and playing and talking story, and walking amongst the stars!

Guess I HAVE TO GO BACK to Pu'u O Hoku to experiience the stars, the sunrise and sunsets and shifting winds inspired me!

I'm sure there are some final thoughts, but without a checkin from Kal ----- really what's the point???? I have lost my trip report mojo - yes it is true!

Ohhhhh, but how we lived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mahalo sistah gyppielou,

your trip report was a blast to read; those are the 2 hawaiian islands I haven't visited yet, but I feel a bit familiar with them now after reading your report. should I cancel my upcoming kauai trip for molokai-lanai ???

I definitely needed a laugh and got my fill from this thread!!!
