Mohonk

Is there a day pass for Mohonk Mountain House? If so, any idea of pricing and what facilities are available to day-trippers? I have looked at their website already - we're staying in nearby New Paltz and just want to spend the day. Thanks.

Here is the deal day pass exclusive of the hotel. That means you are not meant to go into lobby but use grounds 9 dollars. You can go into hotel if you have a meal reservation at $35 dollars.

Taxi up from New Paltz you must have a meal reservation or they don't let you through the gates. We have taken the car and did not have a problem. Great grounds definitely definitely worth a visit and a hike.

You can rent canoes on the lake for $8 a half hour. The concierge is kind of dense ask questions about everything.

If you go for the meal reservation this includes your grounds costs also but not canoe rental

We had reservations for lunch buffet but no one ever asked to see them once we got through the gate. I imagine you could wander through the public rooms without being questioned. There's also an interesting small museum. My advice is to skip the meal - not that great!! Gardens are lovely!!

When we went, we parked down at the bottom (the parking lot by the gate house) and walked up - it's about a 1-2 mile hike. Getting up to the top and seeing those gorgeous gardens was like a dream! We didn't pay that hefty fee (don't remember what it was but it seemed like a lot); we instead paid a much smaller fee to park in the lot.

If you like unusual hikes, take that one that goes over and under boulders and through the "lemon squeeze"!
