Hi immrlo, you might want to check out the Walter Gropius house in Lincoln, MA, a suburb of Boston. Gropius was the founder of the Bauhaus in Germany, and moved to the US in the lead-up to WWII. Museum website is: www.spnea.org/visit/homes/gropius.htm (It appears that the house is only open on the weekends after October 15.)
The Gropius house is right down the street from the Decordova Museum, a small but interesting museum focusing on contemporary art. www.decordova.org
There is also a lot of modern architecture in Cambridge, MA...

immrlo, do you mean modern, or contemporary - or both? (I took "modern" to mean that specific style of architecture, but of course you may have a broader scope than that!)

You might want to hunt around on the Boston Society of Architects web page at:
http://www.architects.org/. Agree with the others - first priority should be MIT campus especially the Strata building and the new Institute of Contemporary Arts. Unfortunately, we don't see too many interesting new buildings because people seem to prefer old looking brick buildings!
