Mirage Hotel - Las Vegas
We have reservations at the Mirage Hotel over Presidents weekend. Reservation is for a "keyed" floor. Would appreciate any comments from those who have stayed at the Mirage and more specifically on a "keyed floor". Do some rooms have better views than others and which are recommended?

Bob, I have reservations at the Bellagio over the same weekend. My understanding at Bellagio is that a keyed floor is one in which you have a separate elevator and can only access it with you room key. Since the Mirage and Bellagio are both owned by Steve Wynn, my guess is that it would be the same. Have a great time and good luck!

Hi Bob,
I was in Vegas in September and had a "keyed" floor room as did my sister and brother-in-law. When I booked my trip I booked a non-smoking room (which they have a whole floor of). When I checked in I requested a room with a view of the strip, which I did get with a great view of the volcano in front of the hotel. My sister (for whatever reason) was upgraded to a suite on a smoking floor (also "keyed" floor). When going to your keyed floor you must show your card key to a security guard who stands by the evevator banks, they are always there late at night. If you have a suite you have to insert the card key into the elevator to actually get to your floor. Both our rooms were very nice, the only difference between my room and the suite was they had a jacuzzi tub. Their room faced the mountains. I loved the casino, the rooms & service. No complaints!! I would suggest maybe calling in advance to request a view of the strip or pool, you do not want to get stuck with a room facing the air vents, roof, etc. Hope this helped, have a great time!!

Lori: Bellagio and Mirage are quite different. I've stayed on 'keyed' floors at both. At Bellagio the separate elevators are to the suite floors (28 and up, I believe) to cut down on wait time and to provide a sense of 'exclusivity'. But at many (most all) hotels with 'keyed floors', elevators are universal, it's just that the buttons to the restricted floors won't work unless your key is inserted into the slot on the floor button panel. The owner of a hotel has little or nothing to do with this. It's a function of the era of construction and the hotel construction budget. Wynn tried to set new standards for luxury and extravagance when building Bellagio. Mirage was Vegas' best until the new wave of building (Venetian, Bellagio, Four Seasons...). It's still very good, and a better value since they've had to back off on their rates a bit to be more competitive.

Stayed at the Mirage last year in one of the suites, 2610 i think. It was superb, the view was of the pool, and some of the strip. It also had a jucuzzi. Same elevator for all, as the previous person wrote, only you have to insert your key to access the floors.

Steve Wynn does NOT own the Bellagio nor the Mirage anymore. MGM now owns ALL of the former Steve Wynn properties. MGM will be removing the art collection from the Bellagio.
Steve now owns or is in the process of buying the Desert Inn and will move what is left of his art collection to the DI.
