Minneapolis accommodations
going to MN for graduation first week of June. Need to be relatively close to downtown but can't afford downtown hotel rates. We will have a car.
Any idea of place to stay for $100 max? I know MOA area fits the price guideline, but it is too far, unless that is our only option. There will be my husband, myself and 16 YO grandson.
Thanks.

If you are willing to stay around Eagan/Bloomington, there are all kinds of nice inexpensive places to stay. For instance, I just stayed at the Best Western Plus Dakota Ridge(near 494/35E) for $55/nt that included hot breakfast and a shuttle to local restaurants. The deal is available on the Best Western website only
UofM, St Thomas and St Catherine are all easy drives from there

Yes, priceline.com ( name your own price BIDDING) or hotwire.com (opaque hotels) may have something good for you. If you don't get what you want now, make a cancelable reservation and try closer to the date.
You can check www.betterbidding.com for hotwire hotel deciphering lists and and recent priceline bids and wins. Also, at www.biddingfortravel.com.

You might want to check-out the Aloft Hotel which is in the Warehouse district. It's a couple of blocks from the Metrodome on the periphery of the Downtown area.
If you're ok without a lot of frills like a full service restaurant, I thought it was a good value. Think of it like a W Hotel Light.
