Mid April: Redwood NP or Yosemite NP?

sudlick: Since you know the area so well I'm sure you are familiar with Daffodil Hill. LOVED that place. Unfortunately it closed permanently as of the 2020 season . . . not because of the pandemic but because its exploding popularity (mostly thanks to social media grrrrr) simply overwhelmed the the family, the neighborhood, the roads, etc. Such a shame

Adding pedantically: Sequoias used to be called Mountain Redwoods (or Sierra Redwoods), and Redwoods were called Coast Redwoods (and sometimes still are) to distinguish them. And there is a third reddish barked conifer, the Chinese tree Dawn Redwood. All three were initially placed in the same genus, Sequoia.
Later all three trees were moved to their own genus. Confusingly the only one to remain in the Sequoia genus is the Redwood, Sequoia sempervirens. Sequoias became Sequoiadendron giganteum. The Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostrobides) grows well throughout the eastern US even into very cold areas, unlike the other two it is a deciduous conifer, and it is a much smaller tree.
