Hi Ruth
Just returned from CO last week and visited mesa verde for 1 1/2 days. The devastation of the fire is immense as the fire swept thru the entrance to the park and the drive to the visitors centre is 17 miles of winding road. They were just replacing the melted rails, but there is a strong smell of charred wood in the air and no sign of animals. It has a very erie feeling and deadly silence.Luckily the dwellings are in the park where the fire didn`t reach, and we took advantage of the low turnout of visitors we easily got tkts for cliiff palace and balcony house.Anymore questions plse post on the board
