Do you mean the TOWN of Mendocino or just somewhere in Mendocino County?
I can only recommend the Harbor House Inn in Elk, Mendocino County which is about 20 minutes drive south of the town.
Here's a website to read a bit:

Use www.google.com to find the actual website of Harbor House. We rented an ocean view cabin (not a room inside the main house); had a tiny deck with absolutely gorgeous view. Seems to me our rather pricey cabin included both dinner and breakfast -- both were excellent.

Irma, you're quite welcome, and let me clarify my previous post. When I said "I can only recommend.." I meant that it's the only B&B we've stayed at in that area. I certainly did NOT mean to imply any or all the others were not worth a stay.
Remember that wonderful old movie "Same Time Next Year" - with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn? It's been many years ago now, but my aunt and uncle stayed at the B&B where it was filmed and thought it was an absolutely wonderful place.

Well, right outside the town of Mendocino is the Stanford Inn. It's a great place, lovely decorated. They have a great, albeit, vegaterian restaurant. The owners are very pleasant and make your visit splendid. It's really a little larger than a B&B, though. It's more like a small hotel, but I really liked it. Great setting, with a wonderful view of the ocean. Very, very romantic. Most of the rooms have fireplaces and most have nice decks.

The Albion River Inn is outstanding. Stayed there 3 times and can't wait to go back. Not a B&B exactly, about 20 rooms all with ocean views (I think - make sure). Real fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs, the whole bit. Includes wonderful breakfasts in their restaurant (if you don't stay there you might want to go for dinner - excellent restaurant that shares the same great views - get ther before dark). About 4 miles south of Mendocino on rt 1, can't miss it.
