Memphis.Gracelands What else?

We will be visiting Memphis in January 98. What else is there to see other than Elvis attractions?
We are planning to stay at the Sheraton Memphis airport. We have two full days to spend in Memphis and would like to see as much as possible.
Donna. Australia.

I did not see Graceland when I was in Memphis, but I did go to see Sun studios and
the area which has all the blues clubs.

Stay at the Peabody Hotel - it'll make all the difference. Also Sun Studios, Graceland and of course great Barbecue! Enjoy!

The Peabody - definately! Go there - the head of security is nice - ask for a tour (no kidding) ask about the "duck walk" twice daily. Bar-B-Q/Charley Vergo's Rendezvous or BB Kings on Beale St. See all of Beale St. Shops, blues, history. The Pyramid on Mudd Island usually has an exhibit (called "The Wonders Exhibit") it changes every few months. Right now is The Titanic. The Pink Palace has an IMAX Theatre - shows change every few months. All but the Pink Palace is in walking or trolley car distance. There are also historic homes that can be toured (check with the Memphis Chamber of Commerce)Also there is the Civil Rights Museum in the (former)Loraine Motel where Martin Luther King Jr.was shot - kept it original. But do see all of Graceland. If not a fan - you will be awed by his life and want to see all the sights there. It is compelling. And who could go home without an Elvis oven mit? Let me know if you have any other Q's.

You might want to check out this link http://www.memphis.acn.net/. I agree with the other responses, you should stay at the Peabody it is a nice "OLD" hotel with alot of character and is located near Beale street. Memphis has absolutely wonderful barbecue.
