maui luaus- seating

I have done several searches on luaus- I'm visiting Maui in September and I'm interested in going to a luau. I have read all about the Old Lahaina luau- how great it is.
I would really like to know about seating- does everyone sit together? or can we get a private table. I'm on my honeymoon and really wouldn't want to be sitting with a family and their five kids. I'm going in september so I know there are so many children around.
Are there any luaus were there is private table seating? I would appreciate approximate prices, and contact information (phone numbers).

Atty,

Please see my "March 2000 Trip Report, Part 1" post. I tell you about our experience as a couple at the Old Lahaina Luau.

The bottom line -- it's group seating so ask to be seated with other couples, not a group.

Have a fun trip!

while we didn't do the maui luau, we went to the one hosted by our hotel, Kona Village Resort while on the BI. it was group seating, but we did get seated with other couples, which was better. there were very few kids when we were there in Oct. also, if you stick to higher end hotels/restaurants, you will find less families, i have found.

the earlier you book this, (as in, long before you go) the more choice you will have for seating. At the Old Lahaina, there is also a differential between sitting cross-legged on mats on the ground at low shared tables, which are closer to the "action", or sitting slightly farther away and slightly higher up at picnic tables and benches.

atty,

If you really want privacy, I wouldn't go to a luau. It's a group thing, really, by it's very nature, and I think that's part of the fun. My wife and I love a romantic dinner by the ocean at a table for two but when you go to a luau, you'd better be prepared for "group fun." Good luck!

Aloha,
For a more intimate and sophisticated Luau try The Feast At Lele on Maui.
It is operated by the same people that do The Old Lahaina Luau, in fact it is
held at the old Old Lahaian Luau location at 505 Front St.
It is a multi course sit down dinner
(instead of a buffett) with each course from a diffrent Polynesian island with the entertainment from that island.
The Luau operates on Tues/Thur/Sat nights and the full retail price is
$92.78 per adult. This just might be what your looking for.

Aloha,

I agree with JDP, The Feast At Lele is
wonderful, a more adult Luau to be sure.
You are served each course by very friendly waiters and the entertainment
is outstanding. I really think you
should pick The Feast At Lele.

Enjoy,

HJS
