Maui/Kauai Tour & Spa Suggestions?
We are honeymooning in late June. There are so many different tours available for snorkeling, catamaran cruising, helicopter rides, etc. Any suggestions for specific tour operators? Also, is there a day spa (other than at our hotel) that anyone has experience with on either island? We're staying at the Ritz in Maui, and the Marriott on Kauaii.

Hi Kitty, good choice. Do the Catamaran cruise with thew Trilogy out of Lahaina to Lanai - it is a fabulous trip.Snorkeling in a beautiful bay at Lanai with the possablity of a couple of dolphins joining you. I'd suggest the Helicopter ride in Kauai. It's the best way to see the whole island.

Hi Kitty,
I would have to agree...Do the Lanai trip with Trilogy. We did that and really enjoyed it. I used the spa at the Grand Wailea and loved it. I would highly recommend it (even though we stayed at Four Seasons). A not-to-be-missed is the sunrise at Haleakula. It was VERY early and I almost backed out, but it was breathtaking! We used Maui Downhill and biked down.

I just posted to some other Kauaii honeymooners on the Anara spa at the Hyatt Regency Kauii-I love to spa and this is the best I have ever been to.Open air massages that provide privacy, ocean breezes and sounds of tropical birds-to die for-I only wish I had allotted more time for myself there to enjoy all the facilities- It was pricey-but hell you only honeymoon once if you do it right!!We did the Trilogy cruise in maui and highly recommend it-food was great-one recommendation is to take dramamine-even if you think you wont get seasick-some tough husbands said they didn't need and it and were the only ones on the boat feeding the fish if you get my drift!!Dont miss Roys on either Island! We went to kauaii first which was a godsend of relaxation after a long wedding planning period and big day-then we had a blast of activities on maui-it was perfect.

hi kitty,
not familiar with any spas outside of Marriott, Hyatt & Princeville (they may exist however). Kauai is the best island for the helicopter tours, there are many good operators, Will Squiryes, Jack Harter, & I think I saw a mention on another thread about an outfit called Island Helicopters that does an stop at a waterfall (check this forum).
For boat tours, I have used the following operators, all very good:
Catamaran Kahanu (power cat) for Na Pali boat tour.
Captain Andy's Sailing Adventures for Na Pali tour (water too rough for snorkeling that day but we stopped and got to jump in the water and swim with the spinner dolphins
Holoholo - Na Pali & Niihau (Niihau is weather permitting)
We have gone in the fall in the past, which is a borderline time to tour the Na Pali coast of Kauai (which is only accessible by boat, air overflight or two day strenuous hike/camp). You are going at a very good time of year to visit this coast in June, and if you want to go on a tour that enters the sea caves, you'll need to book on a smaller power cat and even then if the tides are too high or waves too rough, no luck.
good luck & have a great honeymoon, I just booked our return to the Marriott this year for December.

hi barbara,
you will probably be able to tour the coast but snorkeling is "iffy" at that time of year. last 2 yrs we have been in kauai the same time frame as you are going, both times we were able to book Na Pali tours, but both times the conditions were too poor for snorkeling.
The crews will usually try really hard to find good snorkeling water, but sometimes it just isn't there.
also, since all the boat tours go out of Port Allen or Kekaha, very few go farther than the Kalalau lookout.
enjoy, it's an absolutely stunning coast, and I also suggest if you have time, drive up to Kokee State Park in the mountains (take a sweater or windbreaker), and drive out to the Kalalua lookout (sometimes it gets fogged in, leave early)and look down on this beautiful valley of the Na Pali. Kokee is a lot of fun to hike & drive in (jeep with 4-wheel helps).
have a great trip!
