Do you honestly think that MauiHeidi was able to put all 194 of past posts back on Fodor's Hawaii Threads. Now...any person with half a brain would have to know that only Fodor's can do that. Obviously, they feel that her posts make a difference to alot of people on this board in need of first hand information. So whats the big deal? Its not the end of the world! If you don't want to read her posts, then simply move on and don't bother. No one is holding a gun to your head or forcing you to read the thread... right? And if you still have a problem, then take it up with the big guys that own, monitor, and keep these boards up and running!

This (the 194 part thread) is an old post that was never deleted to begin with, and Heidi just brought it back up under another name, for heaven's sake! Fodor's had nothing to do with it!

Mr/Ms NotTheEnd: you don't understand the principle behind the 'no travel agents' rule. The internet is chock full of proprietary and biased travel info. You can never know if you're getting the straight scoop when someone has a financial stake in pushing the information. Here, ideally, there is no such bias. Travellers simply relate honest (hopefully) personal opinions. I'll put my money on the consistent opinions of 5 people here before I'll book a trip based on a great review from a for profit website (or travel agent). Get it? If you can't trust the source then the information isn't worth much.

First of all, you shouldn't trust anyone on this board since its more than likely that we're all strangers to each other. That should be a golden rule that I hope everyone would have enough common sense to have. Its great to get opinions, suggestions, etc. from people here if they are truthful and reliable - how would you know? Other viable resources (personal friends,family,co-workers, etc) would be more deserving of my trust.

Secondly, if MauiHeidi's posts were banned, wouldn't Fodors have deleted all of them from the boards instead of just pushed down the threads? Apparently, they didn't delete it or ban her completely as most assumed. Fodors gave interested people the option of bringing the thread back up if they found it useful. Fodors has everything to do with it because this is their domain!

Its not that difficult to just bypass the thread if it bothers you that much, is it?

Can't you see? That is not Tracey's real home phone number. It is the number for her travel agency. If you call, you will get a hard-sell for a totally inappropriate, overpriced cruise package. Don't bite, my friends!

NotTheEnd you've obviously spent too many years being beaten down by the 'attitude' in the northeastern US (NYC/NJ/Philly). Use your head. When 5 independent voices (however "untrustworthy" each one may be) all chime in with the same opinion of a hotel or restaurant do you think that's just a coincidence? Are they colluding offsite somewhere to try to fool Fodor's readers? C'mon, gimme a break. Anytime you read or listen to opinions about these types of things you have to decide whether they're likely to jibe with your own. Due diligence and perceptiveness are always the orders of the day. But the info here is often much more useful and TRUSTWORTHY than that from proprietary sources.
Am I speaking from experience? You bet. I've compared hundreds of opinions from these forums with my own experiences and there is very strong correlation and I can tell you I've not once thought to myself, Geez was that person on Fodor's out to lunch or what? Sure we all have different tastes. That's not the point. people don't come to this site trying to "steer others wrong". It's a great resource.
And you still don't get the point about agents, apparently. it's not a simple matter of "just bypassing their notes". If they flock here you'll never be able to separate the schlock from the straight posts. Agents can't be tolerated at all.

With children being murdered, lots of parents being crack addicts, and every other horrible thing that occurs every second of the day, its sad to see that alot of you let microscopic matters get under your skin.

Alot of you begin of you burst blood vessels if anyone on this board says who cares if the travel agent is here or not. Now really.... think about it, worse things could happen in your life.

I'm not into watching people bursting their blood vessels all over this board like all of you have been over Maui Heidi. So i'll just bypass the posts from people who constantly do this. Its that simple.

Lastly, I live in paradise... a place that many wish to visit. I've never been to the Northern US, and don't suppose that I will ever have the need to. TruthinTravel made an assumption that I was from NYC/NJ/Philly, and you were incorrect. Do you know what happens when you make an assumption?

Not the End, we know it's you Heidi! I am amazed you keep coming back here after all the negative responses you have had! Your travel agency biz must be really bad or you would not have the time to hang around here so much. Maybe you should get into another line of work.

To answer your question, I have been to Maui once in my life time, for 1 day, 15 years ago. I wouldn't be able to give you directions for that island if my life depended on it. I've heard that its changed alot since my last trip there. All I know about Maui is that it is bigger than Oahu. Its really embarassing since Hawaii visitors know more about Maui than I do (i'm a lifetime island resident). Please don't ask for my help with Maui. Its a waste of your time.

Maui resident I feel she is helping
future visitors to enjoy the island of

God, Heidi and cohorts are at it again. No sense arguing with these blockheads, they'll never leave on their own, so write Fodor's again and complain that a travel agent is using this forum to pitch her business.
