iamq, I'll be interested to hear about the horseback riding in Hana. I'm doing some in the Waipio Valley on BI, but might be interested in Hana too. Tell me more.

Not sure about a stoned massage. I haven't been stoned in a very long time!

Love Wailea and Makena. Gonna miss em this trip. Marteen is pissed, as we aren't even taking our snorkeling gear this trip. "It is going to rain all day, there's no decent beach, no place to snorkel, and it going to be COLD!" Blah, Blah, Blah.

NeoPat, the hotel does one trip up in the hills and another one down along the coast. They are an hour each or you can combine them.

Can't wait to trudge up the hill to Fagan's Cross for a view to die for. Will trudge carefully as there are cow patties everywhere!

Well, two months from tomorrow we check into our condo in Hanalei. Still seems like just research; can't actually imagine us on the lanai overlooking the ocean. And DH is doing his usual "you plan and let me know" routine, so no one to discuss it with.

Except you Fodorites, of course!

cheryl, my DH does the very same thing. And, then he is so animated when he tell everyone what we did and bores them to death with our pictures!!

bullyboy, tell Marteen he better just straighten his act up...lest, I must come and not snorkle with thee!!

I must tell you that just today I loaned an acquaintance my guide books for Maui. He and his DW are planning their very first trip to the islands! If his DW is as excited as he is, they are going to have a wonderful time!

Okay...Who else is going to this overcommercialized, floating-in-the-Pacific version of California?

Any fodorites want to have a GTG in Hana on the 8,9,10 of April?

Are you venturing away from Hana at all? If you go to Macy's, say hi to my cousin!

I still say a visit to Oahu is in order!

Hi Grammie, All I know about the Mana Kai is the location is great. It is at one end of a fantasic beach. Never been inside any of the units.

Hi Mels, No we are staying put, but we have a few hours to kill in Kahului on the way back. We'll get a cab, hear over there and take her to lunch...that is if she doesn't mind being seen with a couple of haole queens who will be grumpy because they are going home.

Why don't you come out to Hana? You and Martenn could go for a run while I lounge by the pool. Then we could all get hot rock massages and end the day with dinner on our deck watching the waves crash? Come on!

Funny, in my younger more svelt days I never would have thought to spend a day in Hana with two gorgeous haole queens at nekid beach, never once bothering to check me out.

Now, knowing they're not interested in looking is kind of reassuring! LOL!!!

Funny how things change!!!

She's originally from the Bay Area!

Oooohhh I couldn't run with Marteen. He's too fast for me. I don't think I could even last a 5K alongside him.

Ok then, you and I could lounge by the pool and he could run to his heart's content dodging cow patties as he goes!

Have a great time, iamq! Can't join the GTG because we'll be in Marin County then, trying not to get lost on the Dipsea trails on our hike.

Is there really good horseback riding on Maui? Beach or grassland? I loved riding on Molokai---through tall grass up high on a ridge, with views out to the ocean and another island far off.

The horseback riding I've done (once, 15 years ago) is on Hana Ranch land I believe, but I don't know about other parts of the island. I don't believe there is acutal beach riding in Hana, as there aren't many beaches and it is mostly rocky and rugged ocean bluffs.

Bully for you strutting around in your sulus from Navini like the cosmopolitan world travellers in the know that you are!!! You will be the talk of Heavenly Hana!

Good times!
