Maui -- Airport Shuttle to Hyatt?

Aloha Fodorites,
I'm in the process of planning this year's Hawaii trip. I've just about settled on the Big Island, but was thinking of stopping for 2 days on Maui first. If I don't rent a car, is there easy transportation to the Hyatt? Their site mentions a shuttle, but they don't run the shuttle themselves. Has anyone taken this? Cost? Frequency? Any opinions good or bad?
Thanks for any input.

I would absolutly rent a car on Maui.
You will miss so much if you don't.
If you still want to take a shuttle to the Hyatt, I would call the Hyatt and ask them for advice.
Again, if you can, rent the car--you'll be glad you did.

I would rent a car also, I think alamo usually has the best deals.
this way you can maximze your 2 days.
Unless you plan to take guided tours while you are there or lay on the beach. What are you trying to accomplish in the 2 days?

We stayed at the Hyatt and I honestly wasn't aware of them having a shuttle from the airport. It's quite a distance away. I also recommend that you rent a car.

I wouldn't necessarily go with Alamo though. They do have great deals, but if you take a look at the Maui forum on tripadvisor.com you wil see that a lot of people (including myself) have horror stories about Alamo.

Thank you all. In terms of what I'm trying to do....I'm not really sure myself and I don't know if it's a good idea to stop off or whether I should go straight to the BI and save Maui for another trip when I would have more time and would definitely rent a car. This would be the first two nights after flying in from the east coast and from previous experience I know I will be very tired.

I haven't been to the Hyatt for nearly 10 years and I hear it calling my name.

I'll keep the Speedi Shuttle info handy just in case.

I would split your time between BI and Maui if you have the chance.

There are two airports in Maui, go to the one closest to the Hyatt, it may be Kapalua, 10 minutes via cab to the Westin I was just at, much nicer than the 45 min. ride to the airport on the other side and its a small prop plane. You won't need to rent a car, just enjoy the beach.
