Maui!

I just got reservations at the Aston Kaanapali shores, and also could take Kahana Beach Conominiums $77 or Royal Lahaina $147.50 (ocean view). Does anyone know anything about the last 2 hotels and how they compare to the Aston. Is the Royal Lahaina nice? Thanks.

Cindy, I visited friends at Aston Kaanapali Shores. They had an oceanfront condo there; it was very nice, furnished well. They said they'd go back there. I believe the Royal Lahaina is in need of a little refurbishing from what I've read, but I can't speak from experience. You probably wouldn't be disappointed with an oceanfront room there. Kahana Beach, I know nothing about. Have a wonderful time on your trip!

Cindy, this may not be helpful, but, I stayed at the Westin Maui and it was great. Basically, anything at Kaanapali would be nice. I was at the Royal Lahaina and it seems nice enough. Their luau's are alot of fun. I recommend that. The hotel are does seem to be in need of an update. If I were you, I would stick with the Aston, but always look into the other options.

Cindy, I've been to the Royal Lahaina three times, mostly because I wanted ocean front without paying an exorbitant price. It's not as fancy as the Westin but it's by no means a dump either. When I dream of Hawaii, it's the sun setting over Lanai from my Royal Lahaina ocean-front balcony that comes to mind first. Another nice thing about it is the beach is right there and it's relatively coral-free. So no stubbing your toes while you swim. If it was a choice between oceanfront at the RL or a garden view room someplace else, I'd go with the Royal Lahaina. I know you mentioned ocean view rooms. The South side of the hotel over looks the Ka'anapli Golf Course which borders the beach. It's a great view. The other side of the hotel overlooks the driveway area, something that might not be very appealing. The hotel is fairly nice, the
grounds are well kept. I've never regreted staying there. The rooms are clean and comfortable. On our second stay we got upgraded to an ali'i suite for no extra charge, including a jacuzzi, sitting room, two bathrooms, walk in closet, four poster bed and a telescope see the stars from either of the two balconies! It was nice. So I suppose I'm biased a little!
Is it in need of an update? Perhaps. Did I love staying there? Absolutely.

Wherever you stay in Maui, I'm sure you'll have a great time. There's so much to do you probably won't spend a lot of time in the room anyway. So don't agonize too much over the decision (like I did).
Enjoy your trip!
Irene
