Maswik vs Bright Angel Historic Cabin

I have been busy checking and calling the Xanterra site at Grand Canyon South and now have 2 rooms booked for two days. Meyer posted last year "Call, Call, Call"!! Worked last year when we went to Bryce and again this year. I only need one room. My question is which one do I keep. We are two adults. I have a two queen bed cabin at Maswik, which from what I read, is a 5 minute walk to the rim. Today, I was able to grab another night to make 2 nights at Bright Angel Historic Cabins. Note these are the historic cabins, not the rim cabin. Both have bathrooms. So do I go with BA because it is closer, or take the Maswik cabin. I understand that both are rustic, no problem...Any suggestions?? Pros/Cons?? Thanks!

I stayed at Maswik, and it is a bit more than a 5 minute walk...seemed like 10-15 to me. It is very cold (in October, anyways) and very dark at night, making it a tough walk at dinner time. I would have preferred staying at Bright Angel because it is closer to the better restaurants (at BA and El Tovar).

We stayed at one of the Bright Angel Cabins and it had a comfortable bed, our own bathroom with shower and a TV (surprised us). The room was small but we didn't spend any waking hours in it so that didn't matter to us. It wasn't on the rim but was close enough to walk there in less than a minute and we could park the car there so parking at BA was not a problem, it can get hard to find a space close to BA but they might have a shuttle from Maswikn anyway but I'm not sure about that.

Maswik has 2 shuttle stops: one in front of reception/cafeteria, another at the parking lot.

I have read that some like Maswik better because it is more isolated, BA can be on the busy side. Decisions, decisions! We will be there in May.

We stayed at Bright Angel for 2 nights 2 Christmas ago. Didn't realize there are historic cabins versus cabins on the rim? The cabin we stayed at was clean and comfortable, there were 2 queen (or maybe double) beds, own bathroom and TV. We loved the location of the lodge. We got up very early to watch sunrise, through another the exit beside the gift shop we were directly at the rim and the view was amazing.
