Just be aware that the RI rooms with 2 double beds appear not to have a sofa.

we love the Courtyard on 52nd---- the view of the Chrysler building is incredible, its central to the subway going in any direction, ie uptown or crosstown to Broadway shows, and last but not least, its right across the street form Ess"s bagles---2 cups of coffee and 2 bagles for 6 bucks such a deal!!

We loved the new Marriott Courtyard on Varick. Very nicely situated near the West Village, Soho, etc. and near plenty of subway stations. Everything is new and lovely there. I'd stay there again.

Why are you so-so about it? It's near West Village. It seems like a good location if you are interested in staying near West Village without spending an arm and a leg. Thanks.

You could check out the Moxy Hotel just south of Times Square. It's a Marriott property. We just stayed at one in Osaka Japan; it reminded us of the Ace Hotel in Portland but not as stark.

We often stay at the Marripott Marquis since we generally do a lot of theatre in New York

You say you want clean and convenient and the place is that and believe me, when it is a mob scene in TS it is pretty easy to walk away from that mob so I wouldn't let that bother me. The one thing I feel is "dated" about the Marquis rooms is the bathroom...I HATE the tub/shower combo but when I look out over TS (which is the kind of room we always get) it doesn't seem like such an issue.

Marquis is charging a $25 per night destination charge now but it will count towards food, beverage, and some other costs but you have to use it up each day.

This thread is from 2011 (but there are a lot of additional Marriotts in Manhattan since then, so it's probably still relevant, just not to the OP for that trip)

Should also clarify my post that the "destination charge" is $50 per night, not $25.
