marriott courtyard san diego--downtown or sorrento mesa?
Because of our Marriott Rewards, we are choosing between two Marriott hotels in San Diego--the Courtyard Downtown or the Courtyard Sorrento Mesa.
We have kids and are staying three nights to do the theme park thing: Sea World, Legoland, etc. I want to know about the accessibility of these hotels to these attractions.
Also, I'd like to know if it would be hard to manuever through downtown traffic at the Courtyard Downtown.
Thank you!

Sorrento Mesa has little, if anything, to recommend it as a tourist destination. The Marriott downtown is a much more central location. It is farther from Legoland than Sorrento Mesa, but closer to just about every other attraction--zoo, Balboa Park, Sea World, beaches, Old Town, Seaport Village--you name it.
In my opinion, it is fairly easy to drive in downtown San Diego, (not nearly as difficult as driving in downtown San Francisco, for example). The freeways are convenient and you should have little trouble getting around.

When I stayed at the downtown Mariott last year (I live here but didn't want to drive home after a late event) the valet was $18/day with in/out privliges. It can't be much more now. I would definitely spend the extra money and stay here - there is NOTHING to do in Sorrento Mesa, it's a business park area.

I should mention - you can park yourself in the same lot that they use for around $10-12 per day. I don't think you'd have in/out privlidges though. It's located on the North East corner of 7th and E St - the first 2 floors are reserved for Marriott valet.
