Mardis Gras hotels - an update

Just been on hoteldiscount.com and the cheapest hotel during Mardis Gras is the huge and proably quite plus Hilton Riverside. Has anyone stayed there? Why is it such a bargain (dangerous area or something)?

I'm really surprised you're getting the best deal at the Hilton Riverside. It's in a very good location - just outside the French Quarter, which is best during Mardi Gras - and the rooms that overlook the river are really very nice! I'd grab it if I were you.

Did you try www.nola.com. They have hotels for decent prices as well. Only hitch is you pay up front, but booking this late...well.
