MARCO ISLAND - QUIET BEACHES?
My wife and I have been told that Marco Island has nice beaches to go to get away from the maddening crowd. We're flying in to Fort Meyers June 26 for four days. We can use some suggestions for accomodations, too. Many thanks in advance for your help.

I stayed at the Marriot last week (not over a weekend). It's also right on the beach. The beach was very quiet, at least compared to any public beach I've ever seen. There were lots more people at the pools. I liked the room and the view (be sure you get a room NOT overlooking the spa construction site) but didn't think the food was great.

Just got back from the Radisson. Having stayed at the Hilton, I can now say that the Radisson is better, hands down. Better/bigger pool area. Beach is the same as they are next door. I was upgraded to a pool view 1 bedroom suite with kitchen. The only thing I like better at the Hilton was the fitness center because it had a sauna. I used it this weekend even though I was at the radisson. 89/night was a deal for florida residents.

We have been to Marco many times. We rent a condo for a week and prefer this to a hotel.Marco is a quiet resort town.Lots of retirees and families with children. The restaurant scene is good not great. If you are looking for nightlife you may have more luck in Naples.
Marco is a great place to relax. The beach is beautiful, fishing is good. You will be close to Naples and Everglades Nat'l park.
Enjoy!
