Marco Island Marriott in August

Hi Susan! We stayed at the Marco Island Marriott last June and had a wonderful time. The resort is very nice and the service was excellent. It has very nice swimming pools and there are activities planned throughout the day and night. They even have "Dive-In" movies at one pool in the evenings some nights. Our children are younger (8 & 12), so I am not sure about activities for your children's ages. The hotel toll free is 1-800-GET-HERE. They have a wonderful family package that includes a breakfast buffet each morning, a wonderful picnic lunch one day and an activitiy of your choice, plus some other things I can't really remember. We chose the sailing trip and it was great. We saw dolphins and a manatee. We also went on a shelling cuise that was a lot of fun. The beach area is gorgeous, very well manicured and groomed and the water is very clear and clean. The breakfast buffet is outstanding! We really enjoyed our stay there and loved Marco Island. It is our favorite place in Florida. The resort also has its own putt-putt golf course. The sunsets are spectacular and so is the shelling. As for the weather in August, I am not really sure about it. The weather in late June was somewhat disappointing for us. There were very SEVERE storms with incredibly dangerous lightning every afternoon and evening. Mornings and early afternoon was wonderful though. This is a very tropical place. Because of the storms we could not get out in the evening and explore the island like we would have liked to have. Parking is across the street from the resort and the storms were too severe to get out in. Also come prepared for mosquitoes. They are unbelievable! You will get eaten alive if you are not prepared. We can highly recommend the Marriott and also Marco Island. It was a very enjoyable vacation. The next time we go we will probably go in winter or early spring as I am sure the weather would be more to our liking. You might want to ask if they will be doing any renovations at the hotel during the time you are thinking of going in August. August is considered off-season there. When we were there last year one wing of the hotel had been renovated recently, but the other wing was to be renovated next. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful vacation.
Tammy
